Breaking News: IPWA Officially Closes

Posted: July 12, 2009

Fans, we are saddened to report that the Independent Pro Wrestling Association has officially (?) closed up shop. The following two articles were posted on IPWA’s official website either late last night or early this morning…

Please Note: The following two articles were copied verbatim from IPWA’s website. The views and opinions expressed within these articles are those of the writer, and are not necessarily those of WrestleOhio.com.

IPWA CLOSED

Well, let me first say. that because of Tim shaw’s actions, IPWA’s heart and soul, and main owner, from video’s to tv shows, Icons, websites, and merchandise. I have done it all. 15 years in this business I have never met someone like Tim Shaw. I met him when I was wrestling for XWX. I thought he was a nice guy. My how things change.

I have had it with the crap that shaw has been spouting. He goes to UCW shows drunk and runs his mouth. Saying things like “JL and Sandie are skimming money, I want JL gone so I can run IPWA,” and several other things. We might have built this company from the ground up. But you with your lies to the workers and anyone else who would listen is what tore it down.

Today Tim wanted to run his mouth to my wife again. And that is the last straw. “Tim is the biggest mark I have ever seen.” that was from one of the workers. “With his constant jimmy snuka references, and everything else. Christ man, Get a fucking clue. Everyone was laughing at you, except your buddy Wildman Rogers.

TO THE FANS and WORKERS

To the fans. We (the wrestlers and myself) have done everything we can to keep you entertained. I will let you in a secret. The writers for IPWA were Myself, J. Devious, Bo Dacious, and Griff. With a lot of input from the wrestlers themselves. Not many people will do that. I thought it was a great idea. Griff’s company, which you see the the right of the screen, Wicked Griffon Graffics, helped us out tremendously.

I, (JL) was the one that took all footage, edited it, rendered it, brought it down to DATV after putting together 3 or 4 shows, so they could be broadcasted to you the fans. Let me tell you, one 30 minutes show took about 30 hours to dump on a computer, edit, voice over, and everything else. We printed flyers, distributed everything. trying to make it the best thing going to day, and with dead weight like Shaw around, that was impossible.

Now then, With everything that went on, and everything else. IPWA is dead. But from the ashes, will rise the phoenix. I have been setting on something for a while now and kicked it around.

Now, it will be unleashed.

I am working on something that will set Dayton on fire again with wrestling that people have been clamoring for. We will work our asses off to make sure that YOU the fans are entertained and feel that your money was well spent. Will we back at the flea market? Who knows. But we will be some where. You can bet your ass on that.

To my family, the workers. From Billy Braggs, Fedor Petrovitch, all the way to the top like Jon Austin, the Assassins, Uncle Simon, Dark Angel.

You guys made this fun for me. I loved spending time with each of you. We will be spending more time with each other again. I will be in contact with you over the next few weeks to let you know what is going on with the new company. A lot of you will be sticking around, some will not. I believe that we need to build from the ground up and it starts with some familiar faces, and mixing it in with new faces.

With that, Once again, I thank you fans for being loyal and sticking with us for the 3 years we made it. Tim Shaw, you can go work with Shockwave.

Wrestle Ohio will continue to follow this story as it progresses…so stay tuned!

This was one of the best IPWA shows to date, as has been said by those in attendance, and the wrestlers themselves. This show was filled with returns and debuts, and many matches were already made for Broken Resolutions in January.

The first match saw the highly anticipated ring-return of our Co-General Manager, A.J. Moore against Nate Flames. AJ picks up the win after an attempted interference by IPWA Heavyweight Champ, Draven Cross.

Then, for the first time in IPWA history, there was a “Loser Wears A Dress Match” between Kanibus and “The Monster” Matt Dreez. The match itself was brutal, and after a series of headbutts knocked Kannibus unconscious, Matt Dreez was declared the victor. Kannibus, after waking up in a beautiful purple dress, became irate, and stormed off to the back.

In the next match, we saw both the debut of Eddie Vandal, and the return of one of the most unique performers in this region, The Freakshow. This match was a back and forth contest showcasing two extremely talented individuals. At one point in the match, Freakshow was knocked to the outiside, and a former wrestler in the IPWA, “The Iceman” J.D. Forsythe, stepped out of the audience and tossed Freakshow back in. Freakshow picks up the win in the end.

Big Daddy Rog Cox and Hank Calhoun beat the living daylights out of one another, and Rog Cox even gave us his version of a dropkick…which was more like a “fall-kick”, but never mind. In the end, Wildman Rogers interfered causing Rog to be disqualified. Big Daddy was NOT happy about this, as Wildman apologized over and over again.

The fans of IPWA went online and voted for Big Brother Almighty and Tyson Judge to go one on one in a “Dayton Street Fight”. The match was all over the place, and these two brutalized each other. After the ref realized the match was out of control, he declared this a “No Contest”.

At our last show, our Ohio State Champion threw down the title and walked out of the IPWA, leaving the title vacated. A battle royal was held to determine a new champion. This match was totally off the charts, and The Freakshow was eliminated FIVE times. Four during the battle itself, and once more by security when he attempted to enter again. In what many consider a shocking turn of events, Nate Flames tossed out Jon Austin to become the Ohio State Champion! Afterwards, the IPWA Heavyweight Champion Draven Cross came to the ring in what looked like an attempt to congratulate Flames on his victory, only to beat the living hell out of him. J. Devious, making his return to the IPWA, rushed to the ring to try and stop Cross, but then shocked the audience by also attacking Flames. Security rushed to the ring to stop the beatdown, and as they were distracted, several participants from the battle hit the ring and obliterated Flames.

Devious, with Draven Cross, then grabs the mic and begins to tear down the fans and the reemerging UCW. This brings out Sheik Udy Mohhamand and the Mexican Mafia. After a brief exchange of words, the 6 man tag that was to take place began, pitting IPWA Tag Team Champions (who are also in possession of the UCW Title with Aaron Extreme)The High Spot Kings with Draven Cross against Sheik and The Mafia. Whoever’s team won would take all of the titles. After what many considered to be the match of the evening, Draven Cross and The High Spot Kings picked up the win. After the match, AJ Moore, accompanied by Matt Shock, hit the ring and attacked Draven Cross for interfering in his match earlier, knocking Draven unconscious. The Boss, J.L. Thrush then told AJ that since he wanted a piece of Cross so bad, that at Broken Resolutions, it would be AJ Moore taking on Draven Cross for the Heavyweight title. Due to Draven being unconscious at the time, his manager J. Devious reluctantly accepted the match on Draven’s behalf.

In our main event, “The Lunatic” Jon Austin, who was accompanied to the ring by Uncle Simon, defended his IPWA Television Title against Johnny Suede. J.L. Thrush acted as special referee in this match. I say acted, because he did almost nothing in this match except sit on a turnbuckle. These two went at each other with chairs, baking sheets, and anything else they could get their hands on. J.L. Thrush then shocked us by pretending to be the voice of Austin, and submitted on his behalf, thus declaring Johnny Suede the new Television Champ. Then, in what I consider to be an act of cowardice, Thrush lays out Suede with a stunner, thus leaving us all to wonder…who the hell’s side is he on? Come see our next wrestling extravaganza, BROKEN RESOLUTIONS, on January 31st at the Merchant’s Flea Market to see if we can find out.

Already booked are the following:

True Thugz vs Matt Dreez and Tyson Judge for the 1 conterdership to the tag titles

Wildman Rogers vs Hank Calhoun

UCW TV Championship is on the line as Jon Austin(with Uncle Simon) defends against Kannibus

Nate Flames has issued a challenge to J. Devious, which he has accepted, for a no dq match for the Ohio State Championship

and, in our main event, we will see AJ Moore going after “The Irish Superman” Draven Cross for the IPWA Heavyweight Championship.

Have a safe and happy holiday everyone, and we hope to see you all on January 31st!
