The promotion that was known as Classic Championship Wrestling, and a feeder to the Dynamic Wrestling Alliance, has been closed and sold. The specifics have not been hammered out, nor has the name of the new owners been made public.
It was noted that on Wednesday afternoon, Colonel Jonathan James and “The Classic Icon” Brett Michaels had announced that they had vacated the CCW Heavyweight Title and had left the company, as did Dewey Brown. It was also stated that “Magnificent” Princeton Travis had left the promotion on Thursday, as well.
The CCW website is still up though the heading states, “Promotion formerly known as CCW”. Sources say the site will stay open as an archive site and may resume if another promotion from the DWA were to resume.

An enthusiastic crowd was on hand Saturday night as the roster of CCW prepared to battle one another at the Rec Center in Sayler Park. Once the National Anthem was sung, the show was ready to start.
The first match of the evening saw the head of the VIP’s, Colonel Jonathan James head to the ring, accompanied by CCW Champ Brett Michaels and Double J’s newest associate Dewey Brown, to a chorus of “Cap’n Crunch”, the fan’s new nickname for him. Normally, this would include a lengthy speech from James, but tonight he was actually doing battle as his opponent was soon announced to be The Zodiac. After climbing into the ring, Zodiac was attacked from behind by “The Classic Icon” and left laying. James attempted to coerce Brown into helping with the attack, but Dewey refused. Once the ref restored order and had the bell rung, James dropped an elbow on Zodiac, pulled him to the center of the ring and splashed him for the win in record time.
James called out “Bulldog” Dan Hansen and reminded him and the crowd of the “Pick Your Poison” series and informed Hansen that his opponent for the night was Dewey Brown. This match was full of action and sportsmanship, much to the chagrin of James. But the sheer girth of Hansen was could not be overcome by Brown who fell victim of a modified Crossface for the submission win.
After the match, Princeton Travis spoke to the crowd about the departure of his friend and partner Trice and that he was left with no match for the night. This brought out Brandon “The Rage” Taylor, who was flanked by Lee Williams, his manager. Taylor challenged him to a match, saying they could even keep the “No DQ” stipulation that was to be part of the tag team match that should have taken place tonight.
The third match of the night featured one of the hottest superstars of Southwest Ohio as “The Angelic Assassin” Aaron Williams made his debut in CCW, facing another newcomer in Justin Hollins. These competitors matched move for move and hold for hold and this match had numerous two-counts. Williams hit a Juvi-Driver at one point which the fans were sure was the end of the match, only to see Hollins kick out at two. The same went for a thunderous Back-to-Belly Suplex from Williams that only garnered a two-count. But with Hollins on the apron, Williams pulled him through the ropes and hit a Flatliner on Justin for the win.
After Intermission it was time for the CCW Championship Match as indy star Dave Nevada took a stab at trying to wrest the CCW title away from Michaels. The first few minutes of the match saw a very scientific match unfold as the two went hold for hold with a lot of counters and reversals. Soon, James got into the act and had Nevada chasing him only for Brett to clothesline Dave on the outside. A well-placed kick from The Colonel sent Nevada reeling and minutes later, the challenger was locked in a brutal Sleeper hold. Nevada battled out of it only to be locked in once again. When he worked out of the second one, he went to bounce off the ropes, only to be tripped up by Brown who had been pushed into the ring by James. A dazed Dave was then ripe for the pickings as Michaels hit the F-5 for the pin to retain the CCW HWT Championship.
This brings us to the main event, the No-DQ match between Princeton Travis and Brandon Taylor. The match started out like a storm and intensified as Williams and, for some reason, Natasha Rivers, decided to get involved as the three were all attacking Travis. The Boss called for security and the referees to restore order as Rivers and Williams were then barred from ringside. From this point, the match soon calmed down and the two fighters began to work on each other. But not for long as a set of handcuffs and a steel chair were introduced into the match. All it took was a chair shot from Princeton onto an already dazed Taylor to give the fan favorite the victory.

Last night was the CCW debut at the Rivers Edge Indoor Soccer complex in Cleves and though the crowd was not great, they were loud and were into the action all night. The Boss ran down the matches after singing the National Anthem and the show was under way.
The first match was to be a singles match between CCW newcomer C-Rage and “The Outlaw” Dan Hansen. This was a short match as C-Rage’s colleague, Psycho, ran in and the duo attacked Hansen. This led to the referee calling for the bell and the Disqualification win for Hansen. A few moments later, “The Misfit” Kevin Moore came out to make the save for The Outlaw and The Boss quickly made a tag team match between the four men. It was at this time, the valets for C-Rage & Psycho, Princess Taime and Tiffany, made their way to ringside. The match was quick-paced and the crowd was behind Hansen and Moore and the victory went to the crowd favorites as their opponents were counted out of the ring.
The next match saw Colonel Jonathan James come out to ringside before any music played and he grabbed the microphone. He told the crowd that Double J was expanding again and then introduced “Diamond” Derek Flynt as the newest member to the fold. His opponent was The NightKrawler. Once again, the crowd was given a fast-paced match and at one point, “Krawler came off the top turnbuckle to the outside onto Flynt AND James. The Colonel got in his licks onto NightKrawler and then later knocked him from the top rope as Flynt hit a superplex and got a two-count. Derek then picked up NightKrawler and hit a chokeslam for the victory.
After intermission, the next match was between indy star Osyris, making his debut in the Cincinnati area, and a wrestler only known as “The S.I.”. The veteran big man was in command almost the whole match as his size and experience made it difficult for his smaller opponent to gain any kind of advantage. “The S.I.” got in a few bits of offense in but after Osyris clotheslined him and hit a running senton in the corner, he was dragged to the center of the ring. Then Osyris splashed him from the top rope and covered him for the win.
Next up for the crowd was an unusual 2-on-1 handicap match. Due to mixed-up travel plans, Keith News and “The Marvel” Trice were unable to appear last night so it left “Magnificent” Princeton Travis and Brandon “The Rage” Taylor without opponents. Plus, the main event was to have been a mixed tag team match and due to injuries suffered by others, left Natasha Rivers with nothing to do for the night. Somehow, this ended up as a handicap match between Taylor and Rivers facing Travis. Rivers held her own but it was mostly the men doing battle. But after Travis hit Taylor with a knee to the head, backflip and a clothesline, it was Pete News coming from the back to distract the referee, allowing Rivers to hit Princeton with a set of handcuffs and pinning him for the win. The three then proceeded to beat down on Travis until help arrived.
It was now time for the main event, a match for the CCW title. The challenger was announced as indy sensation, Idol Heinze. After “The Showcase” Brett Michaels was announced, James grabbed the mic again to the dismay of the crowd and told Michaels to remove his robe because he was no longer “The Showcase”. A stunned crowd sat and wondered what was happening as Double J turned to The Boss and said that he was to now refer to the champ as “THE CLASSIC ICON”. The match started as a flurry of moves were unleashed by each. Both combatants hit big moves and signature moves on the other, including Michaels missing a moonsault. Makes you wonder if he has ever hit one correctly. But as Heinze was setting up and hitting his finisher, a version of the Rock Bottom, on Michaels, James jumped to the apron to distract the ref. As he did this, Flynt jumped to the other side and as Heinze grabbed him, Derek tossed Michaels a pair of brass knuckles which the champ used to knockout Idol in time for the referee to turn around and administer a three-count for the victory. The VIP’s then verbally abused the fallen Heinze and the crowd until Hansen and Moore emerged and fought with Flynt and Michaels, driving them from the ring.
James grabbed the mic again and said that he had a plan for Hansen if he wanted a title match so bad. He has a series of matches set up that Hansen must win to get his shot which would be any type of match Dan wanted. He already has a match lined up for Hansen this coming Saturday in Sayler Park but on June 19th, Hansen would compete in a “Tuxedo Match”. This is where one man must strip his opponent down to his skivvies to get the victory. James finished with this, “June 19th will be a Tuxedo Match, Dan Hansen. And your opponent will be ….MEEEEEEEEE!” This stunned the crowd as James announced he was having his first match in almost a year.

Excitement was running all around the Rec Center Saturday night as Classic Championship Wrestling made their way back to Sayler Park.
The show got off to a rocky start as Dan Hansen made his way to the announcer’s table to a chorus of boos. As he tried to apologize for his actions last month, where he locked Trice in a bearhug and did not release, the crowd only got louder. He explained that it took a call from his good friend Gator Henry to make him see the light, that the person this crowd saw last time was not the real Dan Hansen. He even asked Trice to come out and shake his hand, yet that did not sway the crowd. It took The Colonel coming out and verbally berating Hansen before they mustered a few cheers.
Once action began, Pete News took on a newcomer to CCW, Tucker Carson. A fast-paced match ensued with a swanton bomb from News onto Carson giving the decision to the experienced Pete News.
Princeton Travis made his way to the table after News went to the locker room, and recounted for the fans the events of last month. He talked of this Mystery Opponent that News had lined up for him and was then approached by another addition to the CCW roster, Brandon “The Rage” Taylor. Taylor, along with manager Lee Williams, challenged him to a match. A ref was summoned and the two squared off. This was a physical match as the walking stick of Williams got involved at one point. At the end though, it was a reverse rollup by Travis on Taylor that got the win for the crowd favorite.
Next up was a Triple Threat match between Jakob Frost, N8 Flames and Dan Hansen. As Hansen was making his way around the ring, he was attacked by the VIP’s, CCW Champion Brett Michaels and The Colonel. Or rather, Cap’n Crunch, as the fans have begun to call him. This assault lasted for a while until Trice chased them off and the match began. Flames and Frost worked most of the match by themselves as Hansen recovered outside the ring. But it was a bearhug on Frost by the Texan that gave Dan the win.
After intermission, the first match was between a Natasha Rivers-led Dameon Daniels and “Fighting Irish” Ryan O’Bryan. Daniels’ bodyguard, Animal, was also present at ringside. The numbers game was too much for Ryan to overcome as the interference by Rivers, a spray bottle and a version of the Catatonic spelled the end of him.
Next was the NO-DQ matchup between Princeton Travis and his Mystery Opponent, a masked man known only as Wild Child. These two beat and battered each other for the entire match as there was not a single arm drag nor hammerlock to be seen. Just out and out brawling. The first sign of any wrestling was a sunset flip by Child onto Travis that resulted in the mask being pulled off to reveal Pete News. As this happened, Natasha Rivers made her way to ringside, dropping a chain onto the canvas and distracting Princeton. This gave Pete time to grab it and use it on his unsuspecting opponent. Pete then stood above Travis with his foot on his chest for the three-count.
This brings us to the Main Event between Trice and the CCW Champion, “Showcase” Brett Michaels. This was a back-and-forth match that even went to the floor as The Colonel, still being called “Cap’n Crunch” by the fans, got in his licks too. But the champ wore his opponent down and with a “Showdown” soon got the pinfall. After this, James joined Michaels in administering more punishment to the fallen Trice until Dan Hansen made the save wielding a kendo stick.
It was announced that CCW would return on April 17th. The card will be posted later.

A very vocal crowd was on hand last night at the Sayler Park Rec Center last night as the Classic Championship Wrestling locomotive pulled into the station. Seven huge events kept the crowd loud and proud even after The Colonel made his way to the ring to begin the show. He introduced the inaugural CCW Champion “The Showcase” Brett Michaels and boasted that “as the VIP’s, they were the driving force behind CCW.”
First up was a Battle Royal that was to determine the order of the night’s matches, with the winner receiving a CCW title shot in the Main Event. The order of elimination was as follows: Iceberg, Jacob Frost, Aaron Extreme, Aaron Gunn, “The Marvel” Trice, “Outlaw” Dan Hansen, “Magnificent” Princeton Travis and Pete News, leaving “Fighting Irish” Ryan O’Bryan as the winner. As O’Bryan turned to the fans and celebrated, Michaels slid in and there was a short staredown before sliding back out. After Ryan left the ring, The Boss asked The Colonel and Michaels back into the ring and interviewed them.
The first match saw Iceberg take on Jacob Frost and it was a physical match from the start, including when Iceberg chased Frost around the ring and was clotheslined on the outside by Draconus. In the end, Frost picked up the win with some help by his second, Draconus.
The second match pitted two high flyers in Aaron Gunn and Aaron Extreme. Both of theses competitors were using the top rope for their maneuvers on more than one occasion. A huge splash from Gunn was sure to put his challenger to the mat for the three-count, but the heart of Extreme would not die.minutes later Extreme caught Gunn with a Shooting Star Press for the win.
Next up on the card was “The Marvel”Trice versus “Outlaw” Dan Hansen. These guys were hitting each other with all they had, Hansen even battered Trice outside of the ring, working on his back. It was apparent that he was only softening Trice up as Hansen locked him in the Bearhug. It took a couple minutes but Trice was soon hanging limp in Hansen’s arms and the ref called for the bell. Only Hansen wouldn’t release the hold. After the referees pleaded with Dan to release the hold, they eventually reversed the decision, giving the win to “The Marvel” setting off a tirade from “The Outlaw” who promptly applied the hold again. Only a threat from The Boss of a major fine allowed Trice to finally slip from the clutches of “The Outlaw”. With this, the show went to intermission.
The first match after intermission was between two crowd favorites in Pete News and “Magnificent” Princeton Travis. These two put on a display of technical mat wresting. They threw move after move at each other to the amazement of the crowd. But someone has to win and someone has to lose. Pete whipped Travis into the corner and monkey-flipped him out, hit an elbow drop and only got a two-count. He whipped him into the corner again and went for a shoulder tackle, missing it and then Princeton rolled him up in a Schoolboy Roll-up for the win. The crowd applauded both men as the two men raised their arms. But then the mood turned as News then attacked Princeton and after hitting him with a Swanton Bomb, left him laying in the ring to the boos of the crowd.
Next up was the featured ladies match which included the newcomer Lil’ Naughty and the CCW’s resident, well you know, the “Alpha Female” Natasha Rivers. And the crowd immediately fell in love with the tiny brunette all decked out in black and pink. And the crowd showed their love to her. They booed River’s every move and cheered Naughty’s. Including when Naughty whipped Rivers into the corner and charged, throwing her rump into her prone challenger. Once Rivers dropped to the ground at the buckle, Naughty gave her another for good measure. But, the tide would turn and Natasha got her licks in. At the end, Rivers clotheslined Naughty in the corner and berated the referee and Naughty recovered. The ref tossed Rivers’ arms out of his face, throwing her off-balanced and was then rolled up from behind by her opponent. A three-count later gave Lil’ Naughty the win, which did not set well with Rivers who then attacked Naughty. After a few kicks and punches, Aaron Extreme ran from the back to make the save. It is safe to say that this was not the final time these two ladies will meet in the ring in CCW.
This brings us to the main event between Ryan O’Bryan and the CCW Champion, “The Showcase” Brett Michaels, with his manager Colonel Jonathan James. And it seems that James has a new nickname as the younger members of the crowd took to calling him “Cap’n Crunch”. And they reminded the leader of The VIP’s of that at every opportunity as O’Bryan and Michaels battered each other the whole night. A well-placed dropkick sent The Showcase to the outside at one point, though soon it was Ryan who was tossed out of the ring and soon ended up in the clutches of the Cap’n, I mean, Colonel. James took to choking their rival and then raked Ryan’s back with his fingernails. James then distracted the ref while Brett choked O’Bryan with the security rope. Later, Michaels went to clothesline the Irishman, only to have him duck and nail the referee. This sent the referee down into the corner as The Showcase was then Super-kicked by O’Bryan. Ryan covered him but there was no ref until another made his way to the ring and made a two-count. A minute later, Michaels caught his challenger with The Showdown Neckbreaker and got the pinfall. As his hand was raised in victory, the original referee came to and pulled it down and declared O’Bryan the winner by DQ since he was knocked down by the champ. Michaels attacked O’Bryan from behind and Dan Hansen emerged from the back to continue the assault. Only when the Magnificent Marvel Connection ran in to save their friend, did the VIP’s and Hansen retreat from the ring.
After the combatants cleared the ring, Announcer Dave Michaels reminded the crowd that the CCW would return to the center on Saturday night, March 6th.

Announcer Dave Michaels opened the show with a list of the card, but was soon interrupted by The Showcase and Colonel Jonathan James. James complained to the crowd that he had to be on the west-side again and that nothing good ever came from there. The duo bragged about how they were taking the title and then went to the back.
In the opening bout, Malice (w/ Natasha Rivers & AOD) defeated Iceberg. Malice used a reverse DDT to pin a less-experienced Iceberg.
The second match was a tag team match that was supposed to be between Bad News and the Death Row Brothers, managed by The Warden. Keith News was unable to attend, so Pete took a newcomer by the name of Big Rob as his partner. The lack of familiarity did them in as Pete succumbed to an elbow-drop from the top row by the San Quentin Killer and was pinned. It was then revealed that Pete had been set up as his partner turned on him and revealed himself to be a former inmate from Alcatraz known as the Fat Man.
The third match was a match where the winner advanced to the finals to crown the 1st ever CCW champion. It featured “Bulldog” Dan Hansen and the very popular “Fighting Irish” Ryan O’Bryan. This was a very physical match that at one point saw Hansen drag O’Bryan to the concession area and back as he himself were bleeding from the nose. But in the end, it was two super kicks from “Irish” that led to his defeat and O’Bryan’s hand was raised in victory. This sent him to the finals.
The next qualifying match was scheduled to be between Princeton Travis and Jacob Frost. Frost was in the ring and as Travis made his way, Frost’s henchmen jumped him from behind. The Marvel Trice made his way out for the save but was then followed out by the Showcase. Once order was restored, The Boss ordered the two singles matches to become a tag team match where the winners would advance to the finals. A very fast-paced match followed that not even a time limit would settle. The Boss deemed that all four would advance to the main event.
After Intermission, The Lost Boy defeated Jaime Thunder using a Blockbuster from the top rope.
This brings us to the Main Event, a now five-man elimination match. This featured Ryan O’Bryan, Frost, Trice, The Showcase and Princeton Travis. Frost was the first man out following a front slam onto his injured ribs by Trice and was pinned. As he argued with the ref, his henchmen drilled Travis with a pair of brass knuckles. Ryan watched as he hit the canvas and knelt over him, not sure whether to go for the easy pin or not. He chose not to. It didn’t matter as Travis was the next one gone thanks to a crutch-shot to the head from The Showcase and then pinned by O’Bryan. A DDT by O’Bryan onto Trice sent The Marvel back to the locker room and it just left The Showcase and the “Fighting Irish” to battle for the title. They battled for a few minutes when the Showcase went for his version of the F-5 and O’Bryan countered it, hitting a super kick. The Colonel jumped to the apron and pulled the ref away long enough for Hansen to come out and clothesline Ryan. This left him prey to be pinned, which is what Showcase did to become the first ever Classic Championship Wrestling champion. After accepting the title and boasting to the crowd, James had Hansen attack O’Bryan more before they left the ring.
