Following a series of technical difficulties, the night opened with Devon Maximus defeating “The Misfit” Kevin Moore by disqualification. Moore has not fared all that well since returning to singles competition late last year. His frustration became more evident tonight as after repeated failed attempts to score the pin on Maximus, Moore resulted to using he ropes for leverage. He likely would’ve scored the victory if not for the watchful eye of referee Tyler Simpson who saw the attempted cheat and called for the bell.
“Awesome” Dewey Brown defeated “The Perfect Homosapien” Sid Fabulous in a hard fought battle that could have gone either way up to the end.
Intense Champion Brian Beech had made it well known going into this event that he had a huge announcement in store and when Commissioner Artie Kidwell called him to he ring it became somewhat evident what it would be. Beech came to the ring with his right arm in a sling and announced hat he had suffered a severe injury to his shoulder on a show the week before and would be forced to undergo surgery involving screws being implanted in the shoulder effectively ending his in ring career. He handed over the championship belt to a stunned Commissioner and thanked the fans for allowing him to perform for them over the years. On a side note, we at XCW wish for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for Mr. Beech and should he ever decide o return to the business, our door will always be open to him.
Eddie Gonzalez defeated “Relentless” Ron Mathis with a sleeper hold. Mathis was initially able to escape the dreaded hold but a short time later found himself in the same position with a less than favorable ending for him the second time.
Before there was an XCW, there was Intense Wrestling, Inc. and 2 of it’s most promising young talents were known as Aaron Williams who was part of a tag team called The Syracuse Connection and the Evil Security Guard. A lot has changed since that time 7-8 years ago and the crowd seemed unsure what to expect when the now ring veterans returned home to face each other. The Evil Security Guard has stopped using that terrible gimmick and is now known under his real name of Brad Calloway but is still not so much a nice guy. Accompanied by his manager Ravishing Rey Rivera, Calloway walked away the victor in what was said by many to be match of he night.
A tag team match had been announced earlier in the evening that would see the Ruffen Boyz, Flapjack and “Show Boat” Brian Cash, teaming together for the first time in several months. However, since their split as a team, these two have usually been beating the hell out of each other all around the Warsaw Arena whenever either has been seen. Needless to say, they were more than a little reluctant to tag up again tonight with Showboat outright refusing. Commissioner Kidwell intervened in the situation saying if either of them refused o wrestle, both of them would not only be banned from XCW but the word would be put out and they would be blackballed from wrestling anywhere in the tri-stae area. And as further incentive, their opponents were to be The Soul Shooters and the match would be for the tag team championship. The match went on as scheduled, though there was clear tension between the challengers throughout. Eventually, it boiled down to the champions double teaming Flapjack. Showboat entered the ring presumably to make the save but just joined in the beating. Once the Soul Shooters were satisfied with the beating Flapjack had endured, they turned their attention to the Showboat. They left him laying as well as the Commissioner watched on in disgust. As he left he ringside area, Commissioner Kidwell was seen tearing up some paper which is speculated to be the contracts of Flapjack and Showboat. We’ll attempt to find out more on this situation and update it before the next show.
Kara Kildare made her XCW single debut, defeating Hardcore Heather Owens who seemed to be outmatched throughout most of the bout. Kara scored the pin after a series of power moves tat left Hardcore Heather in a world of hardcore hurt.
Before the main event it was addressed that Ghetto Fabulous was still the active Chairman of the Championship Committee but also managing XCW Champion Bulldog Garf Redman which posed a conflict of interest. Therefore, Commissioner Kidwell removed Ghetto of his duties as Chairman of the Championship Committee and announced that he will take on those duties until a replacement is named at a later time.
XCW Champion BUlldog Garf Redman defeated “Scorpion” Chris Reno by pinfall to retain the title. Redman was caught by the official attempting to use brass knuckles. The referee stopped him and confiscated the knuckles. As the ref was explaining the situation to Commissioner Kidwell who was stationed ringside, the champion produced another set of brass knuckles and laid out the challenger to get the pin and retain the title.
We return to action on February 6, 2010 at the Warsaw Arena. By that time we hope to have an announcement regarding the future of the Intense Championship. In the meantime, we are currently looking to fill several positions on our staff. There will be a blog explaining this in more detail later in the week so if you think you’d like to be involved with XCW check back for that. We thank everyone who braved the frigid temperatures to come out.
