The Dynamic Wrestling Alliance made their Middletown, OH debut last night at the Manchester Inn’s Great Miami Ballroom to a crowd of well over 200 fans. These lucky folks got to witness six great matches, including the first round of the DWA Championship Tournament, as well as one of The Colonel’s famous rants. Announcers Dave Michaels and The Boss set the mood for the night and then the action began.

The opening bout of the night was between Virus and a DWA Original, “The Magnificent One” Princeton Travis. The action was quick as near the end, Travis hit Virus with an enzuigiri, then a shoulder tackle from the turnbuckle. Virus recovered quickly and caught Travis with a clothesline and went to the top and went for a double-stomp. He missed this and was knocked down by Princeton who then hit a moonsault off the ropes for the pinfall.

A Triple Threat match was up next featuring “The $1M Marvel” Trice taking on a returning “Fighting Irish” Ryan O’Bryan and The Showcase(w/Col. Jonathan James). The beginning was not kind to The Showcase as he looked like a pinball bouncing between his opponents. The action stayed hot and furious in this match but in the end, O’Bryan mounted the top rope to pounce on Trice, but was shoved off and down to the floor by Showcase. As the referee checked on Ryan, The Colonel climbed to the apron and delivered a low blow to Trice, making for an easy pin for Showcase. But there was no celebration as James grabbed the mic and insulted the crowd before blasting the DWA Executive Committee, even stooping to call out DWA Founder Johnny Diamond. It was soon implied that The Colonel was responsible for Greg “The Hammer” Valentine’s non-appearance and hints were made for a Showcase-Valentine match-up for January.

Intermission was next then came the tournament matches. Dave Robinson, making his return, ran down the crowd before introducing his client, the 7-foot tall Shomari. His opponent for the evening was Idol Heinze. Heinze was clearly outmatched but had his moments. He hit his Diamond Dust move and then went to whip Shomari into the corner. It was reversed and Shomari hit him with a clothesline. After a senton, Shomari hit Idol with a splash and then advanced in the tourney with the pin.

The second match of the tournament saw Kid Fabulous facing Tarek the Legend. Kid was no match for the experience of his opponent as when he went for a second hurricanrana, Tarek held on and after bouncing him off the top rope, powerbombed him for the win.

The third match of the tournament was between “Frontman” Evan Da Malice and Justin Andrews. Da Malice advanced to the second round after hitting the Vocal Track on Andrews and covering him for the pin.

The final match of the night was a battle between “Sexy” Shawn Cook and Flash Flanagan. This epic battle raged on as Cook held the upper hand. But the fans were behind “Flashamania” and soon Flanagan began to “Flash Up”. Flash hit Cook with a boot to the face and hit a spinning leg drop from the corner and covered the Sexy One for the win. His celebration was short-lived as Tarek came out and insulted Flash. He attempted to enter the ring, only to be chased away by the victor.

So, the second round of the DWA Tournament will see Da Malice face off against Shomari and Flanagan will face Tarek. No firm date was set, just that the DWA will return to Middletown, OH during January.
