Another red hot crowd took part in the Heartland Wrestling Association’s weekly tradition in Middletown, OH this past Wednesday night. Here’s what went down…
One half of The Kosher Klub, Joseph Schwartz, kicked off the show in winning fashion when he came out on top of a Triple Threat Match against Christopher Saint and Xavier Justice.
Next up was a rematch from the previous week as Jesse Emerson once again showed no fear as he stepped into the ring with “The Most Dangerous Man in the HWA” Jon Moxley.
The competitive match showcased the athleticism of both Emerson and Moxley, but it was Emerson who would outmaneuver Moxley and pick up the 1-2-3.
The latest chapter in the Brian Beech/Ron Mathis saga was written as the two former tag team partners would collide for the third time since the team split in September. Beech and Mathis both hold disqualification victories over the other and both were looking to pick up a definitive win last night, unfortunately for them it did not happen. Instead, Beech and Mathis battled to a double count out. The action got so intense on the floor that all available security and HWA officials were needed to break the men apart.
Next up was a Four Team Elimination Match to crown #1 contenders for the HWA Tag Team Titles.
The teams included The Noble Bloods (Lord Matthew Taylor & Sir Chadwick Cruise), The Madness (who had to go it alone, when his partner JT Stahr was unable to appear) Utterly Fabulous (Kid & Sid) and The Irish Airborne (Dave & Jake Crist).
With 7 men involved in a single match, senior official Joe Kopasz had his hands from the opening bell, as the fans were dazzled by a series of insane over the top rope dives, by Utterly Fabulous and The Irish Airborne as all hell broke loose.
The first team eliminated was Utterly Fabulous, who put up a fight and absorbed a lot of punishment, before their elimination.
Next out was “The Madness” Chris Hall, who found out going it alone was probably not the best move he could have made, especially in there with a team as proficient as The Irish Airborne.
That left The Irish Airborne with two men who have made their lives miserable for months, The Noble Bloods.
The Noble Bloods did everything they could to prevent The Irish Airborne from winning and challenging their king, King Vu and Jon Moxley, but there was no stopping the Airborne last night as they went on to win the match and earn a shot at Royal Violence on the November 11th Sorg show.
And in the main event of the evening, “The Angelic Assassin” Aaron Williams successfully defended his HWA American Luchacore Title against the reigning HWA Heavyweight Champion “King Vu” Richard Phillips.
Vu, who is also co-holder of the HWA Tag Team titles, was attempting to make HWA history as the only man to hold all the available championships simultaneously.
Vu seemingly took Williams a little lightly in the early goings of the match, but as the match wore on, Vu gained a great deal of respect for the man who has solidified the HWA American Luchacore title as a major championship.
But King Vu also showed Williams why he was the top man in the HWA, dishing out the punishment and withstanding Williams’ onslaught of offense.
Only one man could be the better man last night and that man was Williams, who not only retained his title but has a pin fall victory over the HWA Heavyweight Champion to his credit!
