The evening started off with Avalanche demonstrating that K-Kwik ain’t got nothin on him by putting on a rap performance the likes of which the Warsaw Arena has never seen.

The fans were still trying to recover their “wigs” as they say in the rap industry, when Shawn Spears took to the ring to play the National Anthem on his electric guitar. I doubt I’m the only one who never thought they’d see Mr. Spears in the Warsaw Arena. These are strange times we live in folks.

The opening match was scheduled to be a grudge match between former tag team partners Flapjack and “Showboat” Brian Cash. However, Flapjack was the first one to the ring and was very adamant that there would be no match as the Ruffen Boyz had patched up their differences and were ready to get back to the business of becoming 2 time tag team champions. Flapjack called for Showboat to come to the ring so as they could have a public showing of solidarity and prove they were back on the same page. When Cash got in the ring though, he seemed to have not gotten the memo about them getting back together and things broke down real quick from there. This was not so much a wrestling match as it was a vicious brawl that went all around the Warsaw Arena and saw the 2 former friends assault each other with steel chairs, trash cans, even slamming one another into the bleachers as fans scattered for safety. In the end Flapjack was able to secure the victory. After the match, it again looked like the Ruffen Boyz may have settled their differences. Instead, however, Cash hit Flapjack square in the face with his own horseshoe and left him laying.

Sebastian Steele made a surprise return to XCW, defeating Super Oprah in a match that must be seen to be believed. It was….beyond words.

The new Commissioner of the XCW was introduced and the fans were quite glad to see Artie Kidwell make his retrun to the XCW. Commissioner Kidwell expressed his thanks to the championship committee for selecting him and said that there was “a new sherriff in town” and that he’s aware things have gotten somewhat out of control in recent months but vowed to put a stop to it.

In the first ever women’s street fight in XCW history, the Notorious N.I.C. defeated Hardcore Heather Owens in a vicious brawl that saw the 2 women attack each other with any and everything they could get their hands on as they fought their way around the Arena. At one point during the match, Owens repeatedly punched the N.I.C. in the face with a steel chain wrapped around her fist causing a serious cut and probable concussion. In the end, the N.I.C. was able to get the victory after Owens’ attempted use of a stop sign backfired and hit her in the face, the NIC followed up with a big sidewalk slam to pick up the 3 count.

The Big Kahuna successfully defended his Intense Championship against “Shooting Star” Matt Taylor when Taylor’s manager, Violent Bob Humperdink, attempted to interfere on his behalf but ended up striking Taylor with his mystical staff of power instead of Kahuna. Kahuna got control of the staff after the match and laid out Humperdink with it. After the dust had settled, Commissioner Kidwell returned to the ring and declared that Violent Bob Humperdink was permanently banned from the XCW. One has to wonder what kind of effect this will have on Matt Taylor’s career without Humperdink there to guide him or interfere in matches on his behalf.

The Wylde Brothers were crowned as the new XCW Tag Team Champions after defeating The Soul Shooters and defending champions Dew Moore in the first ever tag team 3 way dance in XCW history. The Soul Shooters went after Kevin Moore early and often in the match, working over the injured neck they gave him a couple shows back. The Misfit tried to hang in as best he could but the ring was effectively cut off and he was not able to make the tag to Dewey Brown and eventually found defeat at the hands of the Soul Shooters. The Soul Shooters were every bit as ruthless toward the Wylde Brothers. When Tim Wylde attempted a dive to the outside, Drew Johnson was waiting for him and launched him into the cornerpost. Ryan Wylde’s strategy of “hulk smash” combined with Tim’s speed were eventually able to throw the Soul Shooters off of their strategy and allowe the Wylde’s to pick up the win and become the new tag team champions.

DDK faced off against “The Bulldog” Garf Redman in the next contest which ended in a double disqualification. This one, also not so much a wrestling match. DDK & Redman have been going at each other seemingly since the first day they crossed paths in the XCW locker room and the violence has steadily escalated since then. DDK was able to lure Redman outside the ring where his crew consisting of Bull Buchanan & Naughtia lay in wait to join in the fight. Redman attempted to fight back while the referee attempted to restore some order to the match but it was thrown out after DDK & company unleashed a taser on the Bulldog who had to be helped to the back afterwards.

In the main event, Jason Cross defeated “bad Attitude” Brian Beech in a ladder match to become the undisputed XCW Champion. This match was sheer brutality. Beech felt he was never given a fair shake as champion and had thus taken the actual belt and proclaimed himself champion after he was defeated by Cross immediately after winning the title from Tom Sharp back in April. Meanwhile, Cross has had not so smoothe a run as champion himself as this situation has weighed heavily on his mind and perhaps affected his in ring performance. With the XCW Championship belt suspended high overhead though, there would be no question as to who the rightful champion was after this match. Both men gave it their all and put their bodies through Hell in hopes of reaching the gold. As the two fought tooth and nail atop the ladder, Cross was able to knock Beech off of the ladder. When this happened, Beech found himself entangled in the ring ropes and held there by DJ Tom Sharp who had been lurking around the Arena all night for no apparent reason allowing Cross to pull the belt down and show that he is the rightful champion.

Early reviews say that this was, perhaps, the greatest show in the brief history of XCW. As per fan demand, we are currently working on releasing it on dvd and will have more information as to when it will be available and how you can get your copy in the upcoming weeks. In the meantime, there are over 200 pictures from this show currently posted here on the myspace. Feel free to check them out and leave comments on all of them. XCW returns to action on Saturday, July 11 with tickets still just $8 at the door. We hope to see you there. Have a safe and happy 4th of July. Thank you for a great first year!
