PWO Crowns New Champion – Josh Prohibition
Posted: May 18, 2009
A blockbuster turn of events unfolded this past Sunday night on Pro Wrestling Ohio TV on Sports Time Ohio, as a brand new heavyweight champion was crowned… just not who we thought it would be.
Prohibition stood ringside as he watched his protégé of over two years, Johnny Gargano, challenge “M-Dogg 20” Matt Cross for the PWO Championship in a contest six months in the making. However, as the match progressed, Prohibition seemed to grow more and more concerned. After Gargano had taken Cross down with “Uniquely You”, it seemed a new champion was imminent, however Prohibition lept onto the apron and ordered Gargano to continue punishing the champion. However, once Gargano had finished talking to Josh, M-Dogg had just enough left in him to roll up his foe, retaining the championship.
An irate Prohibition, knowing he would not be granted a title match by management anytime soon, immediately challenged a fatigued and injured Cross to an impromptu match. A proud and gutsy M-Dogg accepted the challenge, but fell right into the trap of the fresh Prohibition, who defeated Cross with The Drunken Driver.
Prohibition has been obsessed with the PWO Championship ever since M-Dogg defeated him to become the first ever PWO Champion last August. Were the events seen on television this past weekend a spur of the moment reaction by Josh or were they the final steps of a months-long plot? Is this what Prohibition meant when he told Johnny that “we” would become PWO Champion? And how does Johnny Gargano feel about this?
The only thing for sure now is PWO officials have stated Prohibition MUST defend his PWO Championship June 5 in Norton, Ohio at our next PWO Live Event. As for his opponent? Tune in to PWO TV this Sunday night at 10:00 on Sports Time Ohio to find out, as Jason Bane battles Mike Tolar in a #1 Contender‘s Match.
