The first annual Heartland Wrestling Association Attack of the Trios Tournament went down on March 25, 2009 at The Sorg Opera House. Here are the results…

Quarter Finals

A bow tie wearing Jesse Emerson (or was it Jesse Fabulous) and the team of Kid & Sid Fabulous defeated the trio of Chad Cruise, Random Dragon #2 and the dress wearing “Shooting Star” Matt Taylor.

The Crusade (Tim Donst & The Hybrids) defeated The Entourage (JT Stahr, The Madness, & V-Rad).

Jon Moxley, Dean “The Dream” Jablonski and Dick Rick Leykis picked up the victory over The GP Code.

It was then time for the first half of the Double Main Event, the third encounter between HWA Heavyweight Champion Jake Crist and the #1 Contender JT Stahr.

And Aaron Williams, Dustin Rayz and Dave Crist defeated HWA Heavyweight Champion Jake Crist, “Bad Attitude” Brian Beech and Ron Mathis, when Rayz pinned Mathis following a vicious double underhook piledriver.

Semi Finals

Jesse Emerson and Utterly Fabulous, with a little help from a Deja Vu Stank Line, got the upset victory over Jon Moxley, Dean Jablonski and Dick Rick Leykis.

Then before the second semi-final match, Tim Donst and The Hybrids (Donovan Cain & Jason Lyte) came out to address the crowd and inform them that Dustin Rayz had suffered a mild concussion in his match earlier and he was not going to be allowed to compete in the semi final round. The Crusade then demanded they be named the victors and advance into the finals.

Aaron Williams and Dave Crist showed up, they stated they realized it was a trios tournament but they signed the waivers and they were going to risk it and go two against three. The bell sounded and a fired up Aaron and Dave went after all three members of The Crusade.

Donst and Lyte quickly escaped the ring, but Cain was not so lucky. Aaron and Dave double teamed him until referee Brandon Tolle was forced to disqualify Dave and Aaron and award the match to The Crusade.

Dave was not about to let up, as he continued to pummel Donovan Cain violating the restraining order that prevents he, Dustin and Aaron from touching any member of The Crusade. He even went after referee Brandon Tolle.

This brought HWA President Tim Tatum who suspended Dave Crist on the spot. Dave plead his case and apologized for his actions against the referee. Tatum reconsidered and waived the suspension.

The Finals

Things did not look good for The Crusade as they headed into the final round, Donovan Cain was visibly upset with Donst and Lyte for not saving him from Dave and Aaron’s double team in the semi-finals and he spent nearly the entire match sitting at ringside watching Tim Donst and Jason Lyte take on Jesse Emerson and Utterly Fabulous in a handicap situation.

Unfortunately for Jesse, Kid and Sid when Donovan finally did get involved it was to nail Jesse with a pair of brass knucks allowing The Crusade to pick up another controversial victory!

After the match Dave Crist stormed the ring and attacked The Crusade, nailing Jason Lyte in the legs repeatedly with a street sign. Officials got Dave to the back where Tim Tatum was forced to suspend Dave, telling him this time there would be no negotiating, he then ordered that Dave be removed from the building.
